Having some problems with the website. The website have been down quite a lot the latest time. I think the problem lies in a router. I'll replace it next week.

Server was down a couple of hours again. Apperantly, the problem wasn't solved by replacing the router. Will switch some other things today.

Should be solved now. Will be a bit exciting to see whether this new network setup really works... :)

hMailServer.com is now running on a dynamic IP address using a wireless network connection. The perfect choice for stability. ;-)

You're kidding, right?

EDIT:

WOW -- apparently not:

Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.NO-IP.COM 216.66.37.13
NS2.NO-IP.COM 63.215.241.224

...

Ping hmailserver.com (213.113.24.207) ...

...

nslookup 213.113.24.207
Canonical name: c-cf1871d5.022-4-68626710.cust.bredbandsbolaget.se
Addresses:
213.113.24.207

...

What kind of connection is this? http://www.bredbandsbolaget.se/se/ highlights a 24Mbps connection.

hMailServer.com has been running on a dynamic IP for some time now. This hasn't lead to any problems since the DNS'es are set to refresh often and the IP, so far, has only changed once in a couple of months.

The problem the latest day was because of a broken router. I replaced this with a 108mbit wireless. (the wireless router is actually (in theory) faster than the old one).

The server is running on a 10 mbit (according to the specs. more like 12Mbit) internet connection. I'm thinking of putting up releases on sourceforge to reduce the usage of that line..

** Thanks. Also noticed you updated the forum. :) I just read today there's a worm targetting phpBB, so good timing.

Do you still need/want a USA mirror? I'd have to ask my boss, but right now we have lots of unused bandwidth.

I will also glady donate some bandwidth. I have yet to use more than 2% of my monthly allocation.

Actually, I'm not sure there is any real need for it. If I upload the installations using NovellForge and SourceForge the file gets automatically mirrored to about 10 servers with nice connection speeds. But thanks anyway! :)

The struggle continues. The new router apperantly has a bug which makes it crash randomly. Found information on it using Google. Great! :)

Why do you use a router?

Maby you can make a server on which you run the hmailserver.com server a gateway (i-net connection goes directly to server computer) and then put a wireless behind it (I think you can set it so it acts like a switch).

I have it set up this way (XP, ICS, Windows Firewall (the one from SP1, not the extended one from SP2), FileZilla, hMailServer, Bind, KeyFocus (WEB), MySQL) and it works without any problems. XP is good, because ICS and Windows Firewall stealths all ports until the ports are used by applicatons.

These cheap routers have all problems keeping lots of opened connections.

You could always pull an old PC out of the closet, install SmoothWall, add a third NIC and pop your web/mail/ftp/etc. server(s) into a true DMZ.

Thanks for the tips. Be sure to use them if the current "solution" won't work out. :)
