The problem I see with this is how many logon connections can you stack? They know there will be a ban or tarpit after x failed logons, so can they stack and try 100 or even 1000 with the limit set to 1? I have enabled autoban to lockout users after a single wrong attempt, but occasionally I am logging up to 10 attempts on the same external IP. It looks like the attempts were simultaneous. Wonder if this is a new type of exploit attempt. i have seen 2-3 at the same time, i have had autoban of same ...
