And then get rid of the header, once I don't need it anymore. "Temporary headers" so to speak?!

You surely don't need to replace the OnAcceptMessage() sub.
Just adding new calls to AddMLPrefixToSubjectIfMissing() within OnAcceptMessage() is ok.
