Spamassassin (Jam 3.4.2) FromNameSpoof

hi Since a few days I use spamassassin 3.4.2. I have added heinlein and schaal-it to the rules, which works well. Now I came across the plugin FromNameSpoof, which should be included in 3.4.2. How can I activate it? Is it enough if I load the plugin (init.pre)? Or do I need to set up more like here:...

Re: HOW TO: Install Spamassassin For Windows and SPAMD service

Spamassassin requires definition updates (almost daily) just like an AV software. This is achieved by running the following command: net stop spamassassin sa-update.exe -v --nogpg --channelfile UpdateChannels.txt net start spamassassin You should include this command daily either by your regular ho...

Rule to check multiple "Received" headers

I receive mails that are forwarded from other mail servers. These mails contain several "Received" headers. I want to create a filter rule that checks all the "Received" headers to see if a specific IP is included. Is it correct that hMailserver rules only check the first occurring "Received" header?

Using honeypots to catch spammers?

I'd like to know how you think about honeypots?
Mail addresses that appear hidden on your websites and are used only by spammers.
If someone writes to the address, the IP is automatically banned.
Do you use such a solution? :?:

I set invalid commands to 5 and they kicked after 5 attempts at guessing addresses
Thanks for the hint. I'll set it up that way too. :D

Re: Hacking

The spammer is already registered in the IP ranges in various lists. In the next step he would probably get stuck in the spam filter. Greylisting also makes sense for him because he does not send the mails repeatedly. https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=blacklist%3a193.32.160.139&run=toolpag...

Re: Hacking

Don't get nervous
The spammer simply tries to send mails to various (non-existent) recipients. They are rejected with status "550 Unknown User".
It is daily routine!

You don't need to ban the ip-range.

Conclusion after almost 5 days in productive use. 5.7 works just as stable and reliable as the 5.6.8.

Good work, great result!

Re: External POP3 Fetcher - DELE without RETR - crashing frequently

I haven't found the cause yet. So far everything runs very stable and there are no problems to retrieve the mails. After I had problems, I went back to version 5.6.8. Since Martin created new builds for 5.7, I dared to do it again. What do you want me to say? It's on. :) Probably it's really related...

Re: hMailServer 5.7

Short update:
using build 5.7.0-B2469 x64 since thursday morning in production mode now on a Windows Server 2012 without any crashes, error logs or issues.
Very stable in my case. Thanks for the good work, the pull requests and fixes to all of you!

Re: External POP3 Fetcher - DELE without RETR - crashing frequently

I've tested the 64bit build 5.7.0-B2469 (on a Windows Server 2016 machine) and got problems with fetching from external pop3 accounts. Also an error on Diagnostics in part 'Test outbound port', tls or so? Switched fast to the latest 32bit build and all is fine again. Sorry, but I deleted all logs an...
