Looking for same version Clamwin and Clamav

Hello,

I'm following a tutorial viewtopic.php?f=21&t=26829 to start using ClamAV and Clamwin. Where can I find a matching version of ClamAV and Clamwin?.
How does one upgrade clamav where clamd version .97.1 is running currently on my server as a service. Do I need to uninstall the old version or can I override the files in the folder.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Karl

In my opinion you should only use clamav running as a service. That is the fastest way to scan your mails. And take a look at the signatures from sanesecurity.

To update clamav stop the service, override the files and start the service again. That should work in most cases. If it does not, remove and reinstall the service.

Clamwin at clamwin.com is 0.99.1.

The matching clamd 0.99.1 is here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29830&p=186601&hilit=clamd#p186601. (You now have everything to do the install as per the original thread instructions.) I recommend you uninstall everything you currently have first before commencing with this installation tutorial (and dont forget to use Sanesecurity definitions to make it worth while).

He is using it as a service. My installation tutorial does use it (and sane defs) as a service with the added benefit of the clamwin interface.

Thank you for your link to the Clamd .99.1. I got everything running per tutorial except for sanesecurity definitions. Maybe I missed something in the tutorial but where do I get the sanesecurity definitions.

Thanks,

I appreciate the help but sorry for my ignorance. Per jimimaseye statement
and dont forget to use Sanesecurity definitions to make it worth while).
and the links provided by mattg, I still don't know where or how to use sanesecurity definitions after following the tutorial. Is there a tutorial on how to use the definitions? Is this a third party addon to work along side clamwin and clamav? seems from what I read it works great but I don't see where it explains how to implement it.

Try this one from the sane security site >> http://sanesecurity.com/usage/windows-scripts/

Finally installed sanesecurity from
Try this one from the sane security site >> http://sanesecurity.com/usage/windows-scripts/

using the readme.txt instructions for ClamAV/ClamWin configuration. I also added a task to update every hour using the supplied sigupdate.bat file.

Unfortunately I received two emails with an attached zip file containing a Trojan which was found by my PC antivirus software. looking at the hmailserver log file it showed that it scanned the email but passed it through.

I'm just wondering if the sanesecurity definitions are not working due to the way I configured it. Any help would be great

Probably. (I'm confident in sane but I am not currently in a position to help in detail due to moving house).
