Do not get emails but sends

Post by PartyZan » 2020-04-10 12:17

Hi dear community!

I have RoundCube + hMailServer on Windows 2016 + IIS.

I log in to admin@amzsupports.com through RoundCube and with any trouble sends email to my GMail account.

But when I tried to send email to admin@amzsupports.com from admin@amzsupports.com or abuse@amzsupports.com RoundCube show an error message "SMTP ошибка (550): Невозможно добавить получателя "admin@amzsupports.com" (Unknown user)" - "SMTP error (550): Unable to add recipient "admin@amzsupports.com" (Unknown user)". When I try to send email from GMail or Mail.ru it is not come to.

I check port 25 and 110 through Telnet client and this ports are opened on mail.amsupports.com. Telnet connects to it successfully.

hMail log file says:

Also "telnet mail.hmailserver.com 25" from Windows server works fine.

Are those 2 accounts enabled? On the account page in the admin, at the bottom there is a checkbox for "enable account". You'll get that error id they're not enabled.

Yes they are.

And "admin" has last logon time "4/10/2020 12:08:06 PM" because I connect to this account few hours ago. This, as I understand, proves that RoundCube connect to this account... may be this info will help.

Do you have another domain with user admin?

Run this and post the results: http://hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=30914

Setup looks ok except this (not related to your problem):

Code: Select all

  Allow Deliveries from Require Authentication from
     Local To Local - True Local To Local - False
     Local To External - True Local To External - False
     External To Local - True External To Local - False
     External To External - True External To External - True
You should enable authentication on all or you'll be sending spam very soon.

Sorry, I can't help with your problem. If you're sure all 3 accounts are enabled, try sending another email and posting the logs. Maybe another clue will come up.

EXTERNAL to LOCAL needs to NOT require SMTP Auth, or you never receive any mail

post or private message your domain name so that we can check your DNS records, OR check here for issues

Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

https://intodns.com/ - this site you mean?

I have already read documentation and check my domain.

My domain is: amzsupports.com

You can also check, may be I lost something.

Also you can check needed ports for this domain through Telnet.

Also I will touch two screenshots where you can see IP Ranges settings for "My computer" and "Internet" group. I made some changes.

I will be happy if you help me, because I can not even imagine what a problem it could be. If you need some other info just tell me.

EXTERNAL to LOCAL needs to NOT require SMTP Auth, or you never receive any mail

There is no extra AntiVirus. Just Windows standard.

I can see at runned processes:
1) Antimalware Service Executable;
2) Microsoft Malware Protection Command Line Utility;

Nothing else not like AntiVirus.

Is it ok that Number of open session for IMAP (POP3, SMTP) is zero? I'm loggined through RoundCube at the same moment.

As I understand this coused by some inside hMailServer logic. Because as my first report say:

"SMTPD" 6432 21 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.800" "127.0.0.1" "SENT: 235 authenticated."
"SMTPD" 6432 21 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.801" "127.0.0.1" "RECEIVED: MAIL FROM:<admin@amzsupports.com>"
"SMTPD" 6432 21 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.803" "127.0.0.1" "SENT: 250 OK"
"SMTPD" 984 21 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.804" "127.0.0.1" "RECEIVED: RCPT TO:<admin@amzsupports.com>"
"DEBUG" 984 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.807" "AWStats::LogDeliveryFailure"
"SMTPD" 984 21 "2020-04-10 12:04:24.809" "127.0.0.1" "SENT: 550 Unknown user"

SMTP daemon catch new incoming request:
1)he "authenticated" and all goes fine;
2) he clearly know from whom the message sended;
3) he clearly know to whom this message is send;
4) he can not find the user.

I try to say that:
1) All data as I gues comes through all AntiVirus and FireWall fine.
2) But then some inner hMail logic try to find this user at DataBase and can not do it.
3) hMailServer say "there is no such a user" because DB do not send any of it? Or how it's work anybody know?

If I understand all correctly then questions are next:
1) Can PostgreSQL DB give some bad performance, anybody works with Postgress + hMail?
2) Why RoundCube can login (I try to write wrong passowrds and it does not login me, this proves that RC do not create it own credentials) through hMail user data but not send email? If RoundCube login - he use hMail that use Postgress DB. And if we know it then why there is such a user as admin@amzsupports.com in Postgress DB when login process, but no such user when email receive process?

Not sure if this is relevant but did anyone notice from his Logs, it looks like his domain name and his mail server hostname are the same. Furthermore, his domain name amzsupports.com and mail.amzsupports.com both resolve to the same IP Address. I, also, never saw anywhere where he states what Domain Name is entered in his hMailServer Domain Entries. Either he is trying to be generic in his statement and then mixes his examples without being consistent to his supposedly generic statement but, of course, Telnet to mail.hmailserver.com port 25 or 110 is going to connect because that is the Mail Sserver used by hMailServer developer.

We don't seem to know what his MX Records point to for amzsupports.com but if admin@amzsupports.com exists as a Domain on his hMailServer then I wouldn't think it would matter because hMailServer should recognize that as a Local Domain and not do an MX Query. Likewise on RCPT TO: admin@amzsupports.com it should recognize that as a Local Account.

One thing also is a little puzzling, I looked up amzsupports.com and found what seemed to indicate an Abuse id that wasn't abuse@amzsupports.com. Of course that isn't proof that there isn't an abuse@amzsupports.com.

Also we are not seeing his entire Logs and therefore don't know if hMailServer tried to do an MX Query and if it did it would mean admin@amzsupports.com was not recognized as a Local Account.

I think there may be too many unknowns here. So, don't know myself if any of this is relevant but that is what I saw looking through this thread.

I don't think that it is bad if my mail server and domain server are both using the same IP, because port for SMTP, IMAP, POP3 and web are different. And it can not couse any problem.

If you will watch screenshots I attached previuosly there you can see abuse@amzsupports.com directly in Accounts of amzsupports.com Domain.

Also I delete all logs and after it I login through RoundCube (and you can see it as IMAPD records) and try to send a mail from admin@amzsupports.com to admin@amzsupports.com. I attach all created log files after this.

The ONLY reason that I can see that this same account doesn't exist when delivery is scheduled is if something else is interfering with SMTP traffic, either your router or your antivirus

I found Windows Defender tools and remove it. I didn't help.

May be I need to set up DKIM signing or something like that?

Also I try to install standart WebAdmin - https://www.hmailserver.com/documentati ... hpwebadmin

I configure all fine:
1) $hmail_config['rooturl'] = "http://amzsupports.com/PHPWebAdmin/";
2) $hmail_config['rule_editing_level'] = 0;

But catch error: "PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class 'COM' not found in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\PHPWebAdmin\initialize.php:16
Stack trace:
#0 C:\inetpub\wwwroot\PHPWebAdmin\index.php(23): require_once()
#1 {main}
thrown in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\PHPWebAdmin\initialize.php on line 16"

Line 16 is next: "$obBaseApp = new COM("hMailServer.Application", NULL, CP_UTF8);"

May be it will help to find the initial problem.

UPD. My PHP version is the latest for current date. It is 7.4.4

Host file is next:
"# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
"

It is VPS hosting. I need to ask them about router or routing before my VPS? (sory if I explain hard, I'm not advanced user in it)

I also try to anable DCOM permissions from this topic - https://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30745

It didn't help, but suggests some thoughts. May be there is no permissions for some folder? Or some other permissions...

May be I need to wath some other logs? Somone know where are potential needed logs?

UPD. I run WebAdmin but have CSRF token issue now. And no php_errors as described in topic.

what is recorded in your log ( smtp and TCPIP activated ) if you try to use an external service like :
https://mailtester.com/index.php and let it test for your local emailadresses ??
(( or any of the mailtools from https://www.google.se/search?ei=GvWVXpX ... CAs&uact=5 ?? i just picked 1 ))

on another note.. i would check why there are "red crosses" affiliated with that IP

Hi again dear community!

I succesfully installed, send and receive messages after I make the other installation on the other server.

I think there might be three reasons:
1) On the previous server I firstly install standart Windows IIS SMTP server and it makes some configuration that led to the issue. Then remove it and install hMailServer and got the issue;
2) I make some misstakes when configure DNS records or hMailServer installation configurations;
3) This issue comes on Windows Server 2016, not 2019;

For now I do not make any DNS reccords but send email directly to my IP address. All works fine.

Soon I will try to make install on WS 2016 again and I will tell you result.

I install hMailServer on Windows Server 2016 successfully!

And I install it to the same VPS provider as when I got the issue, but the other server. That why only two reasons of my issue stay actual:
1) My misstake when hmMailServer install process (I think it is so);
2) Or Windows IIS SMTP server installed and removed before I start to install hMailServer.

Dear mattg, jim.bus, palinka and johang I want to sincerely thank you for trying to help!

Best regards, Oleh.
