Hmailserver - the social organiser

Post by jimimaseye » 2020-12-06 15:06

To our regulars of the board:

A poll to determine thoughts to a hypothetical situation.

I was thinking the other day that there is a regular reader and contributor base to this forum. We all do tend to hang around here with the same goal of at least offering help in the form of support or answers. And that makes us all have a commonality (politics aside, ahem!) in that we are all self-appointed members of a group. We all tend to have similar beliefs when it comes to Hmailserver and its abilities and how to implement it.

What if this 'group' had a get together? A meeting. A social?

Yes, its true we are all over the world so Im not suggesting (in this hypothetical question) that we all jump on a plane and meet on some island in the Pacific. But in this modern day of Zoom style virtual gatherings (very much tried and tested in 2020), perhaps a virtual meeting could be had.

And what would be the agenda? Nothing really other than putting voices and their accents behind the otherwise anonymous postings that we have all been doing for many years. Topics could be Hmailserver, personal career history, current woes or highs of things happening in personal life (family, health, wealth, employment, whatever), generally just anything. We do have different experiences and beliefs due to where we live in the world (U.S, European, Australia, etc) and that also gives lively topic of conversation (for those willing to be open minded); the same as if we had been thrown in to a room for the first time at a company pow-wow.

2020 has been a bit of a sh1tty year all over the globe for one reason or another (mainly 1, but depending on your political persuation, possibly 2). And if for no other reason than a poll shows that in theory we would like to 'come together' (virtually), I think it would be something positive to see and do. However, I know that some of us would prefer to remain anonymous and be happy to keep themselves private. This is ok too if you do not like this idea.

Hypothetically, of course. (Or will it be? )

What do you all think (keep your responses short, please, Jim Bus. ).

If corona Chan allows, I will be in Europe in August. Had to cancel 2020 trip. Actually LOT cancelled, not me. Schedule very tight. No promises.

Or if you prefer the Big Apple, which is dying for tourism at the moment, I can meet literally anytime (except Aug 2021).

Beer > zoom

I forgot one of our main dudes is on the other side of the planet. Maybe zoom + beer is better after all. :D

Anyway, I like the idea. I have no one to talk about email. Literally nobody cares. I imagine that's probably how the guy at the water plant feels after inventing gizmos to keep us all cholera-free.

2. Rest of the life :P
just send the Zoom link. i'm UTC+3 BTW.

Interesting results to the poll. Still, 3 people spanning across the time zones - not bad for some free software.

I just bought a new usb microphone. Its YUUUUGE and crisp. Sounds great. Looks like a Telefunken u47. It even came with a shockmount cage.

Maybe I should get one of my studio mics back. I semi-permanently "loaned" all my studio gear to a buddy that could actually make use of it years ago. I'd have to buy a new mixer for it, though. blahhhh... too much money in that junk...

Is everyone having the "2020" new years party? Meaning, alone, just immediate family?

Number one son working. Number two son playing video games. Wife still cooking. Me, drinking beer and pálinka (shhhh.... don't tell my wife about the pálinka) and looking at hmailserver.com forum. Meh.. who am I kidding? I haven't been to a new years eve party since before number two son was born.

Like a sleepy Sunday morning

No Noise, no dogs barking, no lawn mowers, adult teenagers and wife all still in bed, 'sleeping in'...it's now 10.45 am

Time for me to go and start cooking the bacon and eggs and coffee, and to make some noise

1.28am

Just had a brandy with my neighbour over the garden fence - against current government regulation currently in place. (Sshhh!)

Yeah, i said neighbour. Single. Me and him. That's 2020 new years eve for you. (Too cold, 0c, for the missus to come outside and partake).

2021 currently looking the same as 2020. 😆

*hic* 🍻🥃

Yep. The same.
