Can't send email on external accounts

Post by nessundorma » 2012-05-09 14:02

I have successfully installed hMailServer on Windows 7 Ultimate. I can receive message from external account but I can't send emails. The diagnostic tool dont't give any error.
This is my SMTP configuration on the server:
- remote host name: mail.libero.it port 25 (my isp smtp server)
- server requires autentication + username and password no ssl set
Routes tab is empty

I configured the server also with the guideline http://www.hmailserver.com/documentatio ... dynamic_ip

smtp test is ok

On the client for the smtp address i put the server ip address on port 25.

When i try to send an email i receive a message with object "Delivery failed: Invalid Addresses" and the email content as attached.

I've alredy cheked in the guide but the server didn't work... Thanks for your help

As diagnostics give no error, please enable all logging, and try to send a new email via your server.
Wait 90 seconds (important!!) and then post both your diagnostics and the logs.
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

If smtp logging is enabled and the log contains no SMTP log lines, then there is no connection made to your hmailserver.

What client are you using?
Have you forwarded ports from your router?
Have you allowed ports through your firewall?
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Email client: Zimbra Desktop
Port Forwarding: Yes, 110, 143 and 25
I've also disable the firewalll but nothing at all... still receving a message with subject "Delivery failed: Invalid Addresses"

what server address are you using in your client? if you are using nedo.it or libero.it then it would not be connecting to your hmailserver
If at first you don't succeed, bomb disposal probably isn't for you! ヅ

Looks like you are using external fetch so a different mailserver is accepting email.

Sending email using the ip address depends on where you are connecting from. If the mailserver is on your local network (LAN) then you may need to use the LAN IP instead of the external IP. 192.168.x.x as opposed to 62.149.x.x

I'm not sure I understand what you mean...

Client and server are in the same lan (I would like to use my HmailServer also to send email from external connection).
On the client, the smtp server is the server ip address (192.168.x.x)
On Hmailserver I put my provider smtp (mail.libero.it, autentication required + user and password)

Right so if you cannot connect over LAN to SMTP then I am going to say it's a firewall / AV issue

I'm getting crazy... Firewall shut down on client, server and router... nothing!

And the diagnostic test on hmailserver don't give any error!

I'm tryng to send emails also from my mobile phone, but I get the error "impossible connct to the server"...

What do you suggest?

double check the LAN ip on the hmail server to make sure it is what you think it is.

Make sure also that port 25 is not being used by something else.

Also what about anti virus? McAfee for instance has it's own firewall component.

Also what firewall are you using? Windows builtin or something else?

The port 25 is not used
Comodo Antivirus & Firewall shutted down
This afternoon i'm going to install another router just to check if the problem is the router even if port 25 is allow and the ruter firewall is down.

I made a test with http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and the port 25 is closed. I don't know from "whom" and why

I've installed imbra desktop on the server but i can not send emails...

Thank you very much again...

None! Even with a new router same problem! Now I've got a USR9108 port 25 is open but none!
I've a dinamic ip address, on SMTP settings:

Delivery of email
- local host name: xxx.dyndns.org
- remote host name: the isp smtp server name on port 25

Any suggestions?

Comodo is used at driver level. I would completely uninstall it then test.

None even if Comodo is uninstalled.

I don't really know how to solve the problem... any idea?

Sure, but if there are no SMTP lines in it and you have SMTP logging enabled then there is no SMTP connection being made...

I used CurrPorts to check the port 25: local address 0.0.0 - remote address 0.0.0 Is it uncorrect?

When I try to send and email by a client from another computer, CurrPorts detect the connection

I attached the log file.

Thanks, thanks again.

192.168.1.88 managed to connect just fine. You tried to send to an unknown local account. If that account exists on an external server you need to setup a route for nedo.it and point it at your external server

hello,

if I remember corectly, free version of libero.it doesn't allow sending mails with external programs. Only by web interface. Try sending out mail by outlook to see if it gets out. (Just to check if hmailserver configuration error occurs).

Dear Way, thank you for your interest in my question,

As I wrote above, the problem was not a limitation of my dsl provider because I can send and receive email by the client without HMailServer.

This configuration works fine with all my company email addresses (we do not use any @libero.it email addresses):

- On the server: my smtp domain (not the smtp of Libero - my dsl provider) + autentication
- On the client: server ip address and autentication as above

...Now I'm trying to transfer all sent and receive email on the server.... I'm going to put a new post to solve this new issue...

Thanks again!

Don't know if this is your exact problem since you haven't posted all the Logs but most Email Servers require Authentication when sending an email and the Email Server sent out a response wanting an Authenticated Log On. If you look at the Logs you have shown above, it shows that Authentication is required and you haven't Authenticated. I am assuming this is why you can't send to the address in the RCPT TO: Entry.

Your Client application should send Authentication Credentials when connecting to the Email Server.

I had noticed how old the thread was, too.
